7:00-8:00 pm           Part I:  “The Compassion of God” — what it is and    isn’t in the biblical witness, and how compassion compares to sympathy, empathy, and mercy.

1:00-2:30 pm           Part II:  In small groups, we will explore the face of compassion in Jesus’ life in a few parables where the word compassion is used in the text (The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, The Raising of the Widow’s Son at Nain, The Feeding of  the Multitude).  Using large icons and the biblical texts, we will explore the face of  compassion in each.

2:45-4:00 pm           Part III: Now that we have come to better understand compassion, we will look at some common parish scenarios that may present situations in which we find compassion to be difficult, particularly as the wife of the priest.
